Ad agency Zulu Alpha Kilo just launched their new website this week and to say it's pure brilliance is an understatement.
I want to be them when I grow up!
The first thing you might notice when you land on the home page is the "client services clock" counting the hours of their last client complaint.
If you were to stumble upon the new Zulu Alpha Kilo site you may think it legit until you started reading their sarcastically crafted copy from the about us page, where it's explained that they are a full service agency and to them full service means daily shiatsu massage, in-house plastic surgeon, Vegas-style all-you-can-eat dinner buffet, and a Paleolithic artifact wing."
The Fake Founders
Frank Zulu, Chief Executive, Executive Officer, who "prides himself on his ability to schmooze on demand," explains in the Meet Frank video that he, Marcus and Katherine founded the company for one reason, "to write off alcohol as a business expense."
In the "What Marcus Expects" video on the careers page, Marcus Alpha, Ultra Chief Creative Director, shares some friendly advise with an intern, "what I need from you is less work and more talent" ...and if you happened to be looking for a job you are pointed to respond to this email address:
VP Client Service & Strategic Strategy Officer, Katherine Kilo "is serious about strategy. It’s what led her to develop [the] proprietary strategic process,
Holist-i-thinkTM" where they do things like "social media or making you sandwiches."
Where the Truth Lies:
Only when you arrive at the contact page is truth about this ridiculously creative sarcastic ad agency revealed.
Toronto based company Zulu Alpha Kilo, Inc was actually founded by Zak Mroueh and they promise that, when you take a meeting with them, Frank Zulu, Marcus Alpha and Katherine Kilo won’t actually be there.
ZAK is definitely one more reason to ponder moving to Canada.
The last time I wrote about Zulu Alpha Zilo was in praises of their Jingle Butts Creative Card. In my Jingle Butts Blog I mentioned a video highlighting a campaign they named "#saynotospec" that just happens to have over 1.9 million views. (At the time of that blog post, 3 months ago, there were a mere 1.6 million views.)
The thing is- this is not just one video, it's a whole campaign! The rest of the #saynotospec video views pale in comparison to the montage Spec Spot, but they are definitely worthy of a couple million more views respectively!
There are so many off-the-cuff one liners in these videos I could go on gushing in the throws of my self-proclaimed man crush, but I'll let you watch for yourself!
Check out the montage Spec video, as well as "Spec Abs, Spec Eggs, Spec Pork & Specspresspo below.
