ARTURIA RELEASES NEW USB RECORDING INTERFACE.
NEAT MICROPHONES BUZZES WITH THEIR UNIQUE MICROPHONES.
NAMM 2015 is rocking and new gear announcements are coming out from major recording manufacturers. While there was Avid Pro Tools big announcement, along with Universal Audio, and Focusrite; there were 2 smaller ones that caught my eye.
The first is the release from Arturia, and their brand new USB interface, Audiofuse.
While the market is flooded with USB interfaces for home recordings, this one peaked my ears. From the sounds of it, Arturia took a "ground-up" approach to this design. From the high end converters, clean preamp (75db gain), and modular design; it goes right up against other high-end models like the Focusrite Forte and Apogee Duet. What seems to set this a part from the others are features like; all sends and outputs controlled right on the device, iOS capabilities, and a talk-back mic built right in!
Sound on Sound did a nice interview with Arturia that gets tech nerdy on details (which I love):
At a suggested retail price of $599 and available Q2 2015, the Arturia Audiofuse will hit a nice spot for quality home studio recording in a saturated market.
Another new piece of gear from NAMM 2015, that turned heads, were mic lineups from Neat Microphones.
These appropriately named, with "stinging design" (see what I did there); will grab your eye but also your ears*:
The brand is an extension of Gibson and has brought in a few "names" as the design captains. No test out there yet for sound, but if you want something to get your podcast/recording buzzing...oh enough with the puns..they just aren't sticking...ha! (*Prices from B&H.)
