The human voice is one of the most powerful tools of persuasion. It can project the entire range of emotions and push a person to action. It can inspire nations and change societies.
But can it sell soap?
I'm still surprised by the number of business and creative people who still don’t know that the proper use of voiceover can supercharge marketing efforts and increase sales. Trust me, it certainly does. A healthy dose of skepticism is good in any endeavor, but let me explain to all those skeptics out there how voiceover can increase brand awareness, sales, and put those important finishing touches on any ad campaign.
Voiceover asks the questions your customers are thinking...
It Adds Personality
What's your company’s culture? Have you been in business of 100 years and are the epitome of sophistication? There’s a voice for that. Are you a young company on the cutting edge of technology? There’s a voice for that, too.
The human voice can do what no piece of copy or photograph can ever accomplish; it conveys a tone, inflection, and position. Too many marketing efforts have fallen short because customers have misread the ad copy or didn’t understand the artwork. A professional voice talent can help guide the message so your potential customers can relate and act.
There is no ambiguity when it comes to the voice. I can guarantee that whatever style, mood, point of view, or emotion you want to project, there is a voiceover actor that can deliver it for you.
It’s Budget Friendly
We are all considered with the bottom line. You want the best return on your investment, and while you may not be able to afford James Earl Jones or Donald Sutherland (nor want to) you can find a voiceover talent to deliver your message with the same skill and professionalism as any actor on the silver screen. A professional voice talent will help work inside your budget, but remember, you still have to budget. Voiceover is still creative work, there's no one-size-fits-all price. However, when hiring an actor ask questions such as, if they have their own studio, training, experience, or client references. For most of my clients, I help save them money by offering my high end studio as part of the talent fee!
Sell more. Relate more. Do more.
Voiceover Is The Original Social Media
Every business is flocking to social media and many of them struggle to have high return on their investment. We know the purpose of social media is to connect with people. What better way is there to connect and really touch people than with the human voice?
Think about this for a second: What would have more impact, you lover whispering in your ear, “I love you,” or receiving a text from them that reads, “I [heart] u”? Technology can be cold and impersonal but the human voice can express every emotion.
And you can even integrate voiceover into your social media marketing efforts to give them more power and emotion. Add a voiceover to your YouTube videos or Vine clips. This will not only give your posts a more polished appearance but it will give it more character and impact.
I may be biased when it comes to adding voiceover to your marketing efforts but there is a reason for that: IT WORKS. You can easily bring your advertising to life and really touch your target market just by adding the human voice. Every ad tells a story. Let the right voice actor help tell yours.
